Mammoth 2003

Jeff, Denny, and Sandy spent 3 nights up at Mammoth Mountain for some wonderful mid-week skiing. It was a great trip with a variety of snow conditions ranging from sunny and packed powder to snowing with fresh powder. Here's a day by day run down.

Wed, Jan 8:
The morning was great -- no new snow, but well groomed packed powder. We skied all over the mountain as visibility was great. We stopped for lunch about 1pm and as we were getting ready to go out for the afternoon it started snowing! The forecast predicted snow on Sunday, but it came early. We skied a few more hours then stopped at 4.

Thu, Jan 9:
Thursday we had a few inches of fresh powder. It continued snowing Thursday and was a bit foggy so we stayed on the lower runs. The snow was great, but a little windy at times and poor visibility near the top of some chairs.

Fri, Jan 10:
Friday we woke up to a foot of new powder! Denny and Jeff went up to some more difficult runs. Sandy had a bit more difficulty plowing threw all the powder. It was definitely a workout. We stopped about 12:30pm to turn in our equipment and start driving back home.
